The Breitling Cosmonaute, together with the iconic Breitling Navitimer, has long been one of Breitling’s most legendary models. In 1958, NASA astronaut Lt. Cmdr. Scott Carpenter approached Breitling with the idea of creating a 24-hour version of the already highly successful Navitimer chronograph.

Breitling brought this vision to life in 1961 and officially registered the name “Cosmonaute” with the Swiss Office of Intellectual Property later that same year.

In 1962, Breitling supplied Scott Carpenter with his very own Cosmonaute for use during NASA’s Mercury program. He famously wore the watch on the historic Mercury-Atlas 7 mission in May 1962, orbiting the Earth three times during a five-hour space flight.

Considering its age, this watch is truly in exceptionally good condition. It is made even more unique by the legendary Heuer Calibre 12 movement. Take a close look at the photos of this stunning timepiece and judge for yourself! Fits wrists up to 19cm.

Breitling Chrono-Matic 7651

A wonderful early-1970s Breitling 7651 (DDE BR 1525/67) featuring the legendary Chronomatic movement. At the time, this watch was considered exceptionally large, yet today its 48 mm case simply gives it a bold and commanding presence. Despite its impressive dimensions, it remains highly wearable rather than just a collector’s safe queen. The black PVD bezel adds an especially cool and distinctive touch.

During the 1950s and 1960s, Breitling and Heuer dominated the chronograph world, Breitling leading the European aviation market, while Heuer conquered the American automotive scene. It therefore came as quite a surprise when these longtime rivals joined forces in the famous “Project 99” collaboration to develop one of the world’s very first automatic chronograph movements. The story behind Project 99 is a fascinating chapter in horological history, and this remarkable watch is a direct result of that groundbreaking partnership.

As you can clearly see in the photos, the condition is exceptionally well preserved for its age. It fits wrists up to 20.5 cm in circumference.

NOTE: There is an engraving on the case back from the previous owner.
