One could easily get lost chasing the early hand-wound Heuer Carreras of the 1960s, with so many references and variations that they could fill a lifetime. The watch here, however, is a different story: the Carrera 1153, one of the very first automatic chronographs introduced in 1969. A similar Carrera as this one was worn by Mick Jagger gave rise to its nickname.

The first Carrera re-edition, released in 1996, stayed remarkably true to the original 1963 Heuer Carrera in nearly every detail—from its 36mm stainless steel case and the precise geometry of the pushers and crown, to the dial layout and sub-dial design. All three versions of the re-edition feature a decimal minutes scale on the dial, a detail also found on select original models from 1963. The key distinguishing feature between the vintage and re-edition models is the branding: while the original dial displayed “Carrera” above the classic Heuer shield, the re-edition bears the updated TAG Heuer logo.

This Carrera is in good condition for its age and remains unpolished.
There is a small scratch on the lower left part of the crystal—it’s not very noticeable, but we mention it for transparency.
The strap is clean on the outside, while the inside shows signs of regular wear.
The cushion inside the box is slightly dried out, which is typical for these TAG Heuer boxes.
