A beautiful and historically significant Movado M95 chronograph, dating from the golden age of Swiss watchmaking.
Founded in 1881 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Movado quickly established itself as a respected manufacturer of fine mechanical movements. The M95 represents one of the brand’s more interesting achievements: a sophisticated 12-line chronograph movement with a column wheel and horizontal clutch, based on a Frédéric Piguet movement.
This example is reference 49038, featuring a 14-karat yellow gold case measuring a classic 35 mm. The case was made by the renowned François Borgel, who also supplied cases to prestigious names such as Patek Philippe.
With its elegant proportions, beautifully finished gold case and technically fascinating M95 movement, this is a wonderful vintage chronograph with plenty of character and genuine horological history.
