Heuer Monnin 844/3
Heuer’s first dive watch, the Monnin Reference 844, was born in the late 1970s after growing demand for professional underwater sports watches. Initially produced in France by Georges Monnin, sales were so strong that Heuer soon moved production in-house to Switzerland. First appearing in the 1979 catalogue, the early French-made 844s were followed by Swiss-made references 844-2 through 844-5, with the latter marking the first “TAG Heuer” branding. The 844 line would eventually evolve into the iconic 1000 series.
This example, the 844/3, is the 42mm Swiss-made model, powered by the robust ETA 2872 automatic movement. It comes on its original (and hard-to-find) Heuer bracelet. Freshly serviced, it is in excellent vintage condition and ready to wear. It fits wrists up to 18,5cm.
